Russell Crowe Real Estate Mogul

Russell Crowe is a dominating force in real estate and on the silver screen. As each year advances, so does the popularity of his acting roles and the level of his net income. From Gladiator (2000) to Robin Hood (2010), his per film salary increased 300% – from $5 million to 20 million (Russell Crowe IMDB). He has also made major progressions in real estate. In the same 10 year span, he grabbed enough land from adjacent lots surrounding his main home in Australia to turn the residence into property empire. Russell Crowe’s real estate aspirations, unmistakable persona, and wildly successful film career have made him a force to be reckoned with, on and off the screen.

Russell Crowe Movies

Russell Crowe has been an actor with leading roles since age 25, which has also filled the roles of producer and director (Russell Crowe IMDB). Crowe’s powerful presence and strong voice have landed him the roles of captain (Master and Commander, 2003), Roman general (Gladiator, 2000), heroic outlaw (Robin Hood, 2010), superhero father (Man of Steel, 2013), and biblical hero (Noah, 2014).

As the years progress, so do the personas of the formidable hero-like roles he acquires. Surprisingly, the New Zealand native “turned down the role of ‘Aragorn’ in Peter Jackson’s ‘Lord of the Rings’ trilogy since filming on The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring (2001) would coincide with Ron Howard’s A Beautiful Mind (2001). However, Crowe really loved the idea of filming a movie in his home country, New Zealand, for an extended amount of time” (Russell Crowe IMDB).

Russell Crowe Awards

Russell Crowe has received many awards and nominations over the course of his career. His performance in Gladiator earned him an Oscar for Best Actor in a Leading Role in 2001. The following year, Crowe scored a multitude of best acting performance awards for the acclaimed film A Beautiful Mind, directed by Ron Howard. For A Beautiful Mind, he brought home a Golden Globe, Screen Actors Guild Award, and BAFTA Award, in addition to a slew of awards from locally-based film associations.

Russell Crowe Random Facts
  • Crowe has publicly shared his disdain for being in Hollywood;  he desires to be perceived as a down-to-earth actor over a typical Hollywood actor.
  • No matter where Crowe travels to film or promote his work, he faithfully maintains a strict fitness regimen. Followers of the regularly updated Russell Crowe Twitter account attest to frequent tweets that boast long bike rides to work and weight lifting reps.
  • Although born in North Island, New Zealand, Crowe has been an Australian resident since a small child. Australia denied his first (2006) and final attempt (2013) for Australian citizenship because of a glitch in Australian law.
Russell Crowe Real Estate

What Russell Crowe lacks in Australian citizenship, he makes up in land ownership. Upon discovering that the Australian Daily Telegraph (October 2013) called Russell Crowe one of the largest private property owners in the Australian state of North South Wales (NSW), I had to take a closer look. After crunching the numbers, I discovered that Crowe’s acquisition of 10 plots from 1999 to 2013 has allowed him to amass over 800 acres of residential and commercial property in Australia NSW and there is no sign of slowing down (News Limited, 2013).

Daily Telegraph went on to say that Russell Crowe’s purchase of a neighboring farm in 2003 was only the first of many more adjacent property that Crowe plans to purchase surrounding his primary Nana Glen residence, As of November 2013, his expansive Nana Glen residential estate included 790 acres (includes 99 acres of farm), three to four houses, cabins, a farm cottage, a private wedding chapel (where he married Danielle Spencer in 2003), a cricket oval, and more than 700 Black Angus cattle. Because Nana Glen is a small rural village with a population of 1,046 residents (2006 census), Russell Crowe’s land ownership consumes about a third of the small village.

Here’s the Russell Crowe real estate breakdown throughout the rest of Australia NSW (Australian Daily Telegraph):

  • Woolloomooloo Wharf penthouse and Rose Bay mansion was reportedly handed over to ex-wife Danielle Spencer since their 2012 separation.
  • Museum of Interesting Things is a commercial property devoted to and owned by Russell Crowe, with an adjoining pub. This museum featuring Russell Crowe movie memorabilia is a river-front property in Nymboida, NSW of 15 acres.
Ideal Russell Crowe Home

Like many other Maryland celebrity homes located in rural areas, Russell Crowe would require a minimum of 200 acres of land. If Russell Crowe decided today to purchase a home in Maryland, a water-front farm estate in Rock Hall, Maryland (west of Chestertown) would be ideal. The property should include a fully functioning farm with suitable grazing areas for his Black Angus cattle. To host guests, the estate should have a large room to transform into a club-like atmosphere and several guest homes or cabins to accommodate friends staying overnight.

What do you think Russell Crowe would love about Maryland? If you were Russell Crowe’s Maryland real estate agent, where would you show him property?

Keep looking up!
